Fall fishing is a fun time of year to fish. People often over complicate fall bass fishing. There are only a handful of lures you would need in your box at this time of the year. I will tell you guys my top 5 different type of lures I like using for fall bass. The first type of lure I will talk about is a jerkbait. Jerkbaits are awesome baits for suspending bass, they are also great baits to imitate shad or if you don't have shad other baitfish like bluegill. Some colors I would suggest using are shad like colors, so mainly white with hints of colors like blue, silver, g

old, or blue. There are tons of companies that make jerkbaits. Some of my favorite companies are Megabass, Strike King, Lucky Craft, and Rapala. Next I will go through what kind of setups I like using for jerkbaits. I like throwing jerkbaits on a 6 foot 6 inch rod to a 6 foot 8 inch baitcasting rod, with a medium or medium moderate action. For reels I use a minimum of a 7:1:1 gear ratio. Now for line I use 8 to 10 pound fluorocarbon.

The next lure i like to throw during fall is a Jig. I like throwing jigs because you can imitate craws, shad, and bluegill easily. I only use Omega Custom Tackle Jigs. They make many different types of jigs in a lot of different colors. I like to use the Omega Custom Tackle finesse jigs and the pitching jig. For choosing jig colors it's fairly simple, i like to match the type of baitfish or crawfish in the specific body of water im fishing. The main colors I use here in the midwest are the browns, oranges, and blues. For my rod I like using a anywhere from a 7 foot rod up to a 7 foot 4 inch baitcasting rod. For reels I use a 7:1:1 gear ratio or higher. For line I use 15 to 20 pound fluorocarbon. And for trailers I like using Zee Bait Co Bamboo Bomber or the Angry Beaver.

Another lure I like to throw in the fall are spinnerbaits. Spinnerbaits are great baits for imitating a small school of baitfish. The only spinnerbaits I like to use are the Omega Custom Tackle Genesis and Genesis Ti spinnerbaits. The great thing about the Omega spinnerbaits is that they have many blade and color options. I like using willow blades when fishing fall conditions. For spinnerbaits i like using a 7 foot medium heavy rod with a moderate fast taper baitcasting rod. For reels i tend to use a 7:1:1 also i like having the ability to burn my spinnerbait but also being able to retrieve my spinnerbait slower. I tend to use 15 pound fluorocarbon while fishing spinnerbaits.

Thank you for reading my first blog and hope you come back each week to hear more about bass fishing.
